Zion National Park // Hidden Canyon Trail

Zion National Park is a place that's been a part of my traveling history. I first visited the park back in high school.

I recently traveled to Zion for a weekend to show my friend the great canyon and also retrace my own paths around the park.

The first hike we did was called the Hidden Canyon Trail. The hike took us up 850 feet for 2.5 miles. The destination was a small box canyon nestled in the side of the main canyon high up.

Tucked along the coast just off Highway 1 south of Carmel, California is the Point Lobos State Reserve. We parked on the outside of the park along the road and hiked in. The trails are short and the payoff is huge.

Every cove in the park is a beautiful vignette.

We started on the north east part of the researve and walked along the north shore. The coves just got better and betteras we continued our journey.

Something that I really enjoyed about Point Lobos was how intimate and small it was. Anyone hiking the trails could have a close experience with the rocky coast, the sea lions bathing in the sun, and hearing the thunderous crash of waves.

If you live in California, you need to create a bucket list of things to see and do in this great state.

I grew up traveling on roadtrips, camping, and retreating from school and work to the outdoors. The freeways and interstates became my friends and I learned the importance of carrying less, a good pair of shoes, and the destination is always worth it. My parents taught me to see the beauty of the outdoors and how to appreciate it.

The actual Limekilns for which the park was named after. Interesting fact from the brochure; the lime that was extracted from area was used in many of the buildings in San Francisco.

I love showing people the beauty of California. I've been blessed to travel and see as much as I have, even though it's only been scratching the surface. What are some of your places to visit, or what are some places to hope to see very soon? Happy travels!
